Vihan Pretorius cemented his place in the history books of the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool of Pretoria with a double century in his side’s Titans League match against Hoërskool Garsfontein.

Pretorius recorded the highest ever individual innings for Affies with his unbeaten 241 runs. The previous record belonged to Jorich van Schalkwyk (240), which he recorded in 2024 against Cornwall Hill College. Before Van Schalkwyk’s innings, the record stood behind the name of a certain AB de Villiers for his 186 runs, which he scored against Pretoria Boys High in 2002.

Last year, Van Schalkwyk went on a rampage when he removed another Affie, Jacques Rudolph, from the record books as he first scored an unbeaten 164 runs against Bangladesh to remove Rudolph’s highest South African u19 innings of 156 not out from the record books.

Three days later, he scored a double century (215) against Zimbabwe for the national u19 side, bettering his own record.

But back to Pretorius’ mammoth innings. He faced only 142 deliveries, of which he dispatched 34 past the boundary rope. Twelve of these were maximums. He is also the younger brother of Protea Lhuan-dré Pretorius.

Vihan shared an unbeaten 311 partnership with Christian Linde (82*) over the third wicket. Linde (108) also scored a century against Paul Roos Gimnasium on Friday.

Opening batsman AJ Morkel (69) also weighed in with a half-century to help secure an emphatic 254-run victory. Morkel is the son of former Protea Albie Morkel.

Garsfontein were restricted to 174 runs, with Lucas Cronjé (5/60) picking up a fiver.

Waterkloof kept their unbeaten record in the league intact with a comfortable ten-wicket victory over Prestige College. The Klofies restricted Prestige College to 81, with Jean Cloete (4/18) and Frank van der Westhuizen (3/18) causing most of the damage. Cloete is the son of former international umpire, Johan Cloete.

The Klofies’ opening batters, AJ de Villiers (35*) and Wian du Plessis (34*), got them over the line in the ninth over.
