The Gauteng Development League (GDL) features an action-packed schedule of exciting football matches this weekend, including some catch-up games for teams.
Mamelodi Sundowns, who were unable to play their Tshwane derby against Siwelele last weekend due to poor weather, will play two catch-up games.
Last season’s GDL champions, who are in second place on the log, face the Africa School of Excellence at Clapham High School on Saturday. On Sunday, they’re away, although still in Pretoria, against Rockefvs at the Association of the Portuguese Community (ACCP) Sports Ground.

Sundowns have played three games less than the table-topping Kaizer Chiefs, who have played 25 times. The Phefeni Glamour Boys are on 56 points, but the Brazilians can add nine points if they win those three matches.
The AmaKhosi, meanwhile, will try to keep the pressure on ‘Downs by winning against Siwelele on Sunday at Naturena Village. Chiefs’ supporters will, no doubt, closely monitor their side’s match, as well as the Mamelodi Sundowns games on Saturday and Sunday.
Randburg takes on Future of Africa at the Randburg Sports Complex on Saturday, followed by a match against Joburg City on Sunday. Victories in those games would solidify Randburg’s third place, but Rockefvs, who are one point behind Randburg, also have two games scheduled.
They tackle Panorama on Saturday before their Sunday showdown against Sundowns. Only one point separates Randburg from Rockevfs, with the former on 39 and the latter on 38 after 21 games.
Also on Saturday, Prestige Football Development Academy hosts Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA) at Hoërskool Die Burger.
Last weekend, the struggling Seven’s Academy, currently at the bottom of the standings, surprised Panorama, winning 2-1. After 21 outings, Seven’s Academy has 10 points from two wins, four draws, and 15 losses. They’ll aim for a second win on the trot on Saturday when they travel to Katlehong to face Kathorus Hyper Academy at Huntersfield Stadium.
In other games on Saturday, Jomo Cosmos takes on the University of Pretoria (Tuks), Joburg City does battle with Wits Juniors, and Highlands Park meets Pitso Mosimane Youth Football (PMYF).
