Westville Boys’ High claimed victory in the prestigious KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Primo Big 10, edging out Glenwood 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in the final on Sunday at Hilton College.
This final was a rematch of the KZNHSFA Coastal A-League final, which Glenwood won. With that victory, they succeeded the Griffins as the champs after Westville won the title in 2025. On that Occasion, Westville won in a penalty shootout after regulation time finished with the teams level at 1-1. That script was repeated on Sunday.
The Green Machine, who recently finished as the runner-up at the Kearsney Soccer Tournament, again came up just short of claiming a second title. However, they’ve given themselves three chances to win events this season, and that is a superb feat.
Glenwood reached the final by defeating Maritzburg College 1-0 in the semifinals, while Westville also advanced to the title game with a tight 1-0 victory over Northwood.
In the bronze playoff for third place, the Knights recorded a 1-0 win over the Red, Black, and White.
Following successive defeats in finals, Glenwood travels to Gauteng this week to compete in the finals of the second edition of the Curro Halala Cup.
Having narrowly missed out on two trophies, they will be eager to perform at their best against some of the top schools in the country, including Grey College, Norkem Park High, and the defending champions of the Curro Halala Cup, Northern Academy.
