SOR NuusPaarl Boys’ High made sure with their narrow victory of 26-25 over Paarl Gimnasium in the biggest interschools match on Planet Earth tht they will finish on top of School of Rugby’s Rankings for a second succesive year.

Boishaai boasts an unbeaten run of 38 matches since the beginning of last year. The two victories at the Newlands Rugby Day is not counted in the 38 matches. Their last defeat came in 2014 in the final of Die Burger’s competition when the lost to Marlow Landbou (10-11) in Cradock.

Paarl Gimnasium had a short stay at number two and dropped to the third position after losing this important match. This was only Gimmies’ second defeat of the season after also losing to Garsfontein (13-15) at the Noord/Suid tournament in Pretoria.

Grey College is back into the second spot after only dropping to third because of not playing as many games as Gimmies since the July-holidays. The side from Bloemfontein’s only defeat thus far came against Paarl Boys’ High (18-28). Grey have at least three matches left with interschools against Glenwood and Paul Roos Gimnasium, which they both have to play without their SA Schools’ players. They will also face the losing finalist of the Griffon-league in the semi-final of the Kovsie Championships’ Shimla-league semi-final.

It is important to take into consideration that School of Rugby’s ranking system only takes into account the performances each team produced thus far in the season and not the potential we might believe each team has.

Please note that we don’t take matches against international opposition into consideration in our rankings. These games will however still be recorded and shown in our results. This rankings is not an official ranking as there is no official ranking on schoolboy level and this is only to get the discussion on school rugby on South Africa flowing. We however take our responsibilty on reporting school rugby very seriously.
