Grey College finished top of School of Rugby’s rankings for the 2018 season. The team from Bloemfontein finished their season unbeaten their first since 2011. The only slight blemish on their record for 2018 was the 25-all draw in Durban against Glenwood.
What made Grey College’s season even more impressive is the fact that they’ve only played three matches at home in Bloemfontein. The three home games was against Selborne College, Waterkloof and Paul Roos Gimnasium.

Hannes Nienaber covered schools' rugby in South Africa for Volksblad, Beeld, and Rapport for 11 years. He also created the biggest school rugby website in South Africa - School of Rugby - back in 2007. It eventually morphed into Supersport Schools Plus. He still occasionally milks cows.
