All-rounder Eli Aufrichtig delivered strong contributions with both bat and ball as Rondebosch Boys’ High bagged a 51-run victory over Ipswich School from Suffolk, England, in a 35-over match on Thursday in Cape Town.

The toss went Bosch’s way, and they batted. Luca Ghignone gave the home side a steady start with his 37 runs off 48 balls.

Aufrichtig made his way to the middle after the fall of the first wicket and proceeded to build a 95-run partnership with Ghignone. His contribution was 57 from 78 balls, with three fours

Further down the order, at six, Matthew Brooks rushed to an undefeated 34 off 27 deliveries, bashing two fours and a six as Rondebosch tallied 193/6 from their 35 overs.

Edward Burle was the lone English bowler to claim multiple wickets, returning 2/41 from seven overs.

When Ipswich batted, much like Luca Ghignone had done when opening the Bosch innings, Joshua Strudwick provided the tourists with a solid start, hitting five fours in a circumspect 37 off 55 balls.

Number four batsman Charlie Dinmore top-scored for the visitors with a solid 41 from 43 deliveries, which included two fours.

Ipswich progressed to 127/4 and were well in the game. Then their challenge fell apart. They lost their last six wickets for just 15 runs and were bowled out for 142 in the 33rd over.

Aufrichtig and Arin Spiller were largely responsible for the collapse. Aufrichtig captured 3/25 across six overs, while Spiller snaffled 2/34 in seven.

Milnerton High vs DF Akademie

Playing at home, Milnerton High took on DF Akademie in a 30-over clash.

The visitors won the toss, elected to bat first, and opening batsman Wynand Breytenbach responded with 41 runs, facing 48 balls, and hitting five fours.

When he became the second batsman to be dismissed, leaving DF on 60/2, they lost momentum. Keegan Deyzel fought hard, however, scoring 23 from 36 deliveries to shepherd his side to 108/7 from their 30 overs, batting at only 3.6 runs per over.

Millies‘ bowler Dylan Barnes was one of the reasons for the visitors’ batting struggles, snaring a miserly 2/11 from seven overs as only two of the home side’s bowlers conceded more than a run a ball.

Ryan Trollip, batting at four, led Milnerton’s response with a confident 66 from 53 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, and the hosts appeared poised for victory on 96/3.

DF Akademie kept fighting, however, and stunned Millies by claiming the home side’s remaining seven wickets for only 12 runs, leaving the sides level with 108 runs each. Milnerton still had over six overs at their disposal when they lost their last wicket.

Renier Keyser led the assault, knocking over 4/19 in six overs, while Keegan Deyzel claimed a tidy 2/11 in four.
