The country’s top 12 schoolgirl hockey teams have converged at Oranje for the final major tournament of the season, the Fairtree Super 12.
Split into four pools of three teams each, they’re sure to provide edge-of-your-seat entertainment in the battle to be crowned the best of the best. It is from this elite line-up that we have drawn five players to watch:
Lenique Vogel (Hoërskool Waterkloof)
Recently, Lenique Vogel scored 11 times, helping Hoërskool Waterkloof to power their way to the Pullen Tournament title. As impressive as it sounds, that outstanding contribution is by no means her most impressive individual accomplishment of the season.
The dynamic forward was an integral part of Northern Gauteng A’s impressive run at the SASHOC National Week, where they claimed the silver medal. She was named the Player of the Tournament, which made her an obvious inclusion in the South African Schools u18A side.
Waterkloof’s head coach, Omari Pienaar-Geyer, described Vogel as a dynamic athlete whose versatility, speed, and intensity set her apart from her peers. She plays with relentless energy and tempo, consistently creating opportunities for teammates and shifting the momentum in the game.
“Her ability to combine raw athleticism with sharp decision-making makes her a constant threat and a leader on the field,” Pienaar-Geyer explained.

Alanda Rademeyer (Paarl Gimnasium)
Alanda Rademeyer had one of the best all-time runs at the Super 12 tournament last year, collecting the Player of the Tournament, Best Forward, and Top Goalscorer accolades. She was a leading force in Paarl Gimnasium‘s title-winning run.
In 2026, she has not slowed down. At the SASHOC National week, Rademeyer topped the goal-scoring charts, striking six times for Boland.
She was the lone player from her side to earn selection for the SA u17 side.
Returning to a familiar hunting ground, where she has previously enjoyed huge success, she’ll be a key player for Gimmies as they chase back-to-back titles.
Kerrin Gillies (Collegiate Girls’ High)
Kerrin Gillies is one of the most experienced players in the Collegiate squad. She’ll be making her third Super 12 tournament appearance and will be out to make it the most memorable one yet.
However, the midfielder doesn’t just bring experience; she brings skill and versatility, and is a reliable goal-scoring threat from penalty corners.
Gillies’ adaptability means that Collegiate can deploy her either as a midfielder or up front, where she has the knack of scoring important goals. The teenager, who was named the Most Valuable Midfielder at the SASHOC National Week, is an X-factor player, capable of changing the course of a game.
One of her biggest assets is her ability to carry the ball well at pace. She links up well with her teammates and creates space for others. She put those skills on display at the inter-provincial tournament, where she led Eastern Province to a third-place finish and cracked the nod for the SA u18 team.
Jamie da Silva (St Mary’s DSG Kloof)
Jamie da Silva has the mindset of the little engine that could. She is driven, always fighting, even when the situation looks hopeless. This has helped her to turn around games that have looked lost. The St Mary’s star has a high work rate, both offensively and defensively.
However, Da Silva isn’t just all heart. She is one of the most skilful forwards in the country, capable of finding the back of the net from anywhere in the circle. She is also comfortable on the ball, possessing good elimination skills, which serve her well in one-on-one situations.
Da Silva showed just how lethal she is in the circle at the SASHOC National Week, where she received the Most Valuable Striker award. She terrorised defences and was among the top scorers, which earned her a spot in the SA u18A team.
Kristin Booysen (Oranje)
In 2026, Oranje has been on a warpath, taking apart opposing teams and collecting silverware. A huge part of the reason for that success has been Kirstin Booysen, who has been a rock at the back, providing Oranje with a stable and firm defence.
Among her best attributes are her excellent positioning and her ability to read the game early. She is especially strong in short corner defence and deep defensive situations, where she organises the players around her and helps everyone contribute positively.
Booysen performs well under pressure, bringing calm and control to the backline. On the ball, she is composed and appears to have oodles of time. Her outletting skills are a major strength; she can connect lines, identify space, and deliver passes that allow receivers to play forward without pressure.
Her greatest accomplishment this year, besides the multiple trophies that she has helped Oranje win, was to take home the Most Valuable Defender accolade at the SASHOC National Week. She was also named in the SA u18 team.
