The visitors, HTS Drostdy, won the toss at Bishops‘ Frank Reid Oval on Friday night and elected to bat first in their T20 clash. That decision backfired.
They were quickly overwhelmed by a vicious Bishops’ bowling attack. Opening fast bowler Waco Bassick beat the bat numerous times in his opening spell, during which he procured 2/9 in two overs.
He also used his powerful right arm to run out a batsman with a direct hit.
Imraan Leith snapped up 2/24 in four overs, while Thaafier Japhta clamped down on the Drostdy middle-order, snaring an impressive 3/8, also in four overs.
Opener M-Jay van Reenen top-scored for the Worcester school, smashing three fours in his 18 runs, while the fifth batsman to the crease, Stephan Steyn, contributed 12 runs. They were the only two Donkies’ batsmen to make it beyond single-figure scores.

After 19/1 overs, HTS Drostdy was all out for 71 runs.
When Bishops visited the crease, opener Litha Mbiko took the attack to Drostdy, lighting up the run chase with six fours and four sixes. In only 34 deliveries, he raced to an unbeaten 58, doing the bulk of the work as the home side made light work of the run chase.
Mbiko’s fellow opener, Ibraheem Taliep, faced only 13 balls and contributed six runs as the hosts reached 74 without loss in just 7.5 overs.
Summarised Scorecard:
HTS Drostdy 71/10 (M-Jay van Reenan 18; Thaafier Japhta 3/8, Waco Bassick 2/9, Imraan Leith 2/24). Bishops 74/0 (Litha Mbiko 58*). Bishops won by 10 wickets.
