The Primo Big 10, featuring the top 10 traditional all-boys schools within the KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA), takes place at Hilton College on Saturday and Sunday.

In 2025, the tournament hosts, Hilton College, secured the title, defeating Northwood in the final.
Hilton’s football season has only just begun, but the Knightshave been on song. In the second term, they narrowly missed out on the final of the KZNHSFA Coastal A-League, finishing in third place, just behind the 2026 runner-up, Westville Boys’ High, who were beaten by Glenwood in the title game.
Then, Northwood won five out of five matches at the Association of Public Boys’ Schools of South Africa Football Festival at Pretoria Boys High during the mid-year holiday. Last weekend, they beat Clifton College, who placed a strong fifth at the Kearsney Soccer Tournament, by two goals to nil.
Glenwood will be keen to add a second title to the Coastal A-League crown. They delivered a good showing at the Kearsney Soccer Tournament and played for the title, only to fall 0-1 against Urban Academy in the final.
Historically, the Primo Big 10 has provided some surprises, which underlines the competitive spirit of the tournament, in which any of the 10 teams could win.
Hilton College produced one of those shocks last year. In 2024, Glenwood lifted the trophy. In 2023, one of the best teams in Maritzburg College’s history won.
If there is a dark horse side to keep an eye on, perhaps it is Michaelhouse. Although they haven’t won the Primo Big 10 in recent years, they have won the Jody Momplé Cup at Hilton College in the past two years.
