Bishops demonstrated grit and a never-say-die attitude to come from behind and clinch a famous victory over their rivals, Rondebosch Boys’ High, in Cape Town on Friday evening.
Bishops, who hosted their neighbours in the famous Bish/Bosch derby at the Woodlands AstroTurf, put together one of the best comebacks of the season.
At one stage, they were down 1-4, but they turned it around in the second half, giving their supporters plenty of reasons to cheer in a game that will be remembered for years to come.
The hosts started like a house on fire and scored the opening goal through Troy Stockdale, but ‘Bosch levelled matters soon after with a Daniel Fisher strike.
Coach Waseem Domingo‘s side then upped the ante and punished Bishops with some enterprising and skilful hockey.

Fisher netted his second before Jason Warneke contributed a brace.
At halftime, with a three-goal lead, the visitors were well positioned to win. In the second half, though, Bishops came alive and looked like a totally different outfit.
Stockdale completed his brace to lead the fightback before Harry Morgan struck twice, too. Robbie Vincent was also on the scoresheet as Bishops completed a stunning come-from-behind victory.

“I’m beyond proud of my boys,” Bishops’ head coach, Ryan Julius, told SuperSport Schools News after the game.
“The resilience, grit, and determination to fight their way back from 4-1 down were remarkable.
“As a coach, it is a good indication to see how strong your culture and values in the group are.
“The boys executed the game plan well in the second half, a half where they were under immense pressure. We did Cassa [Cassiem] proud.”
Another side that won on home turf was Paarl Gimnasium, who thumped HTS Drostdy 9-0 in Paarl.
Fairmont High outplayed Reddam House Constantia 6-1. Declan Olkers starred with five goals, while Ethan Rosser also netted for the winners.
SACS got on a roll against Wynberg Boys’ High and rumbled to an impressive 7-0 victory, while Stellenberg High cruised to a 6-1 victory over Fish Hoek.
