In the kind of innings batsmen dream about, Hoërskool Sentraal‘s Erik Prinsloo smashed an outstanding 18 fours and 15 sixes to score 203 runs off only 128 deliveries against Hoërskool Goudveld in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Tralies chose to bat after winning the toss and made it a difficult day for Goudveld’s bowlers.
While Prinsloo grabbed the spotlight with his stunning innings, which brought him 162 runs in boundaries, Daniel Pienaar and Janré Bornman also made an impact, contributing half-centuries.
Pienaar shared a 140-run third-wicket stand with Prinsloo, stroking 14 fours in his 85 off 87 balls, and Bornman hit nine fours in his 63 off 53 while partnering Pienaar in a 122-run fourth-wicket stand.
Wickets were hard to come by for the visitors, but Dylan de Jager removed three batsmen, with his 10 overs going for 77 runs as Sentraal posted a gargantuan 438/5.
Replying, Goudveld struggled to gain traction. Sentraal’s Danny Botes was a big reason for that. In just six overs, he snaffled 5/26, while Herkie Malan hustled Tralies to victory, claiming the last wicket to fall to finish with 3/17.
The best of the Welkom outfit’s batsmen was Dylan de Jager. Batting at five, he entertained with six fours and two sixes in his 46 off 31 deliveries.
Zandré Zietsman sent five fours to the boundary in his 25 off 18, but Sentraal dismissed Goudveld for only 123 in the 17th of their 50 overs, winning by an overwhelming 315 runs.
