Jamie da Silva, Jenna-Leigh Freese, and Zezethu Kunene will headline an experienced KwaZulu-Natal Coastal girls’ u18A team at the SASHOC Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) to be hosted by Hilton College, St Anne’s, and The Wykeham Collegiate from 29 June to 4 July.
That trio top-scored for their province with three goals each when the team finished as the runner-up in last year’s IPT.
In 2025, KZN Coastal won five and drew one match on their way to the final, where they lost 0-3 to Boland. Da Silva, Freese, and Kunene will hope to play leading roles and inspire Coastals to the title this time around.
They’re part of an eight-player group that featured in last year’s tournament. The others are Enyenhle Nzama, Mia Lopes, Ella Bowyer, Gabi Howarth, and Alwande Dladla.
The side also features three players from KZN Coastal’s IPT title-winning u16A team: Asanele Zuma, Tayte Stewart, and Emmerson van Zijl.

The side, coached by Chardinay Penniston, offers a tour around the province with players drawn from 10 schools: Kloof High, Durban Girls’ College (DGC), Danville Girls’ High, St Mary’s DSG Kloof, Ashton International College – Ballito, Our Lady of Fatima, Hillcrest High, Durban Girls’ High (DGHS), Felixton College, and Maris Stella.
Regional powerhouse, St Mary’s DSG has the highest representation with five players – Bowyer, Da Silva, Freese, Stewart, and Ziyanda Mchunu – in the side. Our Lady of Fatima chips in with the experienced pair of Lopes and Howarth.
Like Our Lady of Fatima, Danville has two players in the squad: Codie Bestbier and goalkeeper Enyenhle Nzama. The other seven places are occupied by players from Kloof High, DGC, Ashton, Hillcrest, DGHS, Felixton, and Maris Stella.
Alwande Dladla, Asanele Zuma, Emmerson van Zijl, and Isabella Momoh will run out to the cheers of the Kloof High, DGC, Ashton, and Hillcrest faithful, respectively. The other three, Tyra Norris, Zenande Mncwabe, and the reliable Zezethu Kunene, will have the full support of DGHS, Felixton, and Maris Stella.
The KZN Coastal campaign opens with a fixture against Northern Gauteng B. While they won’t be taking their opponents lightly, they’ll be firmly focused on getting their challenge underway with a victory.
