The Montana Sevens opened with a shock result as Hoërskool Oos Moot downed Affies 21-12 in a Pool C clash. That proved to be no fluke as both sides advanced to the final and Oos-Moot again beat Affies, this time 31-22, to capture the Clover High School Sevens Series win in Pretoria on Saturday.
Oos-Moot was one of the pool winners in the group phase of the competition, with Hoërskool Garsfontein topping Pool A, Die Hoërskool Menlopark ruling Pool B, Hoërskool Pretoria-Noord top of Pool D, and Hoërskool Montana ruling the roost in Pool E.
With Affies finishing only second in Pool C, that set them up for a massive quarterfinals clash against Garsies, which Affes won 19-14.
In the only match between pool winners, Oos-Moot defeated Pretoria-Noord 27-12, while Menlopark overpowered Hoërskool Zwartkop, and Montana beat Pretoria Boys High (PBHS).
In the Cup semifinals, Affies beat Menlopark 22-14 in a meeting between the 2025 and 2024 champions, respectively, while Oos-Moot blanked Montana 26-0.
After being ousted by Affies in the Cup quarterfinals, Garsfontein, the runner-up at the Marius Schoeman Sevens, regathered and cruised to a comfortable win over Zwartkop before beating Pretoria Boys High 26-12 in the Plate final.
Waterkloof had far too much firepower for Centurion in the Bowl final, surging to a 52-0 win, while Eldoraigne edged out Wonderboom 20-17 in the Shield final.
Menlopark finished third in the Cup after a 26-17 win over Montana.
The U15 Cup went to Affies, who scraped a 24-21 victory over Garsfontein in the title decider. Zwartkop claimed third place, outplaying Menlopark 33-5.
The hosts, Montana, powered to a 29-point victory over Oos-Moot in the Plate final, Pretoria Boys High lifted the Bowl after a 33-19 win over Eldoraigne, and HTS John Vorster held off Rietondale 15-14 in the Shield final.
Menlopark B won the U17 section of the Montana Hive Sevens, defeating HTS John Vorster 22-17 in the title game, while Montana B lifted the U15 title after a 36-14 win over Die Wilgers.
