The KZN Coastal cricket sides for various national weeks, including the Khaya Majola Week, which takes place in Stellenbosch from 16-20 December, have been announced.

Durban High School (DHS), with four players, one less than in 2025, provides the most players to the Khaya Majola Week squad.

Five players represented KZN Coastal in last year’s Khaya Majola Week in Bloemfontein. Three of those five – Josh van Biljon, Ismaeel Omar, and Bonga Maphanga – are from DHS.

Van Biljon and Omar are reliable top-order batsmen, while Maphanga is a fast-bowling all-rounder.

Their schoolmate, Taine Havermann, who turned out for the CSA Invitation side at the Khaya Majola Week last year, joins them in the KZN Coastal side. He is a seam-bowling all-rounder.

Old School

Van Biljon, a wicketkeeper, represented the SA U19 team in a Youth Test Series against England in July, finishing it as South Africa’s second-highest run scorer, with 233 at 58.25,

Four schools provide two players each. Clifton College‘s duo includes another wicketkeeper/batsman, Daniyaal Klinck, a left-hander, and leg-spinner, Shiraz Perumal, who is also a useful left-handed batsman. He, too, was selected for the KZN Coastal side in 2025.

Glenwood provides Kamo Moloto, who usually opens the batting, and off-spin bowler Esihle Gasa. Both represented KZN Coastal U16 last year.

Westville’s representatives are both all-rounders. Kyle McGough is a top-order batsman and a front-line bowler, while Aarin Rasmussen bats in the middle order and offers naggingly accurate medium-pace bowling.

While McGough represented the KZN Coastal U17 team last year, Rasmussen was left out of the provincial mix. His selection reflects the fact that he has consistently performed strongly throughout 2026.

Kearsney College‘s left-arm paceman, Litha Gonya, is the last of the returning players. He’s joined by his captain, Keegan de Jager, who recently became the school’s most-capped 1st XI player of all time when he played his 105th match. De Jager was in the KZN Coastal U17 team last year.

Northwood‘s David de Bruyn completes the lineup. Usually batting at three, sometimes opening the innings, he has been a force for the Knights, scoring plenty of runs and getting them at a healthy rate.
