Stellenberg High‘s physical prowess was to the fore as their forward pack scored eight of their nine tries in a rampant 59-5 win over Bishops in Bellville on Saturday.

Captain and eighthman Yanos Molnar led by example and powered over for two tries, while hooker Liam Joubert also dotted down twice off the back of the hosts’ dominant rolling maul.

Locks Juvan Burden and Rocco Buchanan were strong in the lineouts and matched one another with a try each, with Buchanan’s score also being set up by the maul.

The Jade Brigade‘s rolling maul has been a tough-to-stop weapon all season long, and that was something that Bishops struggled to deal with in their match against Wynberg Boys’ High earlier in the season.

The southern suburbs’ side was left frustrated by Stellenberg’s advantage in the possession stakes. Still, they scored a consolation try through substitute utility back Lulibo Nyawula in the second half.

Stellenberg will aim to end the term by extending their winning streak to three games when they face Boland Landbou on Friday. Meanwhile, Bishops, after successive big defeats to Paul Roos and Stellies, will have an opportunity to get back on track when they host Rondebosch Boys’ High in a big derby clash on Saturday.

Wynberg Boys’ High, meanwhile, secured a 38-17 win over Hoërskool Bellville at Hawthornden Field on Saturday.

Wynberg fullback Matthew Anthony shone. Showing impressive speed and a knack for exploiting space, he twice broke through to score tries.

Hooker Ridah Johnson tacked on two to his large tally this season. He’s been a try-scoring machine, especially effective when operating at the back of the rolling maul.

The home side’s healthy points output was a result of their dominant set-piece play, which has generally been a feature in most of their victories this season.

With Wynberg up 26-0 at the break, it looked like matters could turn ugly for the Kwaggas. Instead, they showed plenty of heart in the second half, outscoring Wynberg 17-12, with their inside centre Xandru Büter scoring a brace to continue his excellent try-scoring form.

Hawthornden Field will again be in the spotlight this coming Saturday, when SACS visits Wynberg. Bellville next plays in late July.

Farrel-Leigh Dido was on fire in Hoërskool Durbanville’s 71-0 victory over Hoërskool Melkbosstrand on Saturday.

The outside centre used a lethal combination of pace and power to produce a hat-trick, and his line-breaking runs led to a handful of other tries as well. It’s no wonder that he was selected to represent the Western Province u18 XV side at the 2026 Craven Week. Left-wing Cole Carls also impressed with lightning-quick speed for his two tries.

From the moment captain and eighthman Muller Jansen van Vuuren opened the scoring in the first five minutes, Durbies were dominant, stealing plenty of possession at the lineouts and breakdown.

Melkies were left to defend for most of the match. They struggled to keep up with the pace of the Durbies attacking line, which was a step above most of the competition they had faced so far this season.

It was certainly a great way to end the term, but there are still the challenges of Paarl Boys’ High and Stellenberg High to face.
