Two weeks ago, in their last game, SACS put up a strong fight in a 16-32 loss against Paarl Boys’ High. They’ve had plenty of time to recharge and will be fresh and ready to take on Wynberg Boys’ High at 12:30 at Hawthornden Field on Saturday.

Last August, SACS went down 10-41 in their derby clash against Wynberg. This season, though, they’ve been part of two tight southern suburbs’ derbies, beating Bishops 22-17 and losing a squeaker to Rondebosch Boys’ High by only two points, 17-19.
Wynberg has been in good form. Their leading weapon in their 38-20 victory over Bishops and their recent 38-17 triumph over Hoërskool Bellville was their rolling maul.
Between those results, they convincingly beat Grey High School 41-17, but were outplayed by Paarl Gimnasium, who have been on a tear, going down 14-66. But that’s an outlier.
Wynberg hooker Ridah Johnson and blindside flank Naeem Mohammed are players to watch. They’ve made a habit of scoring from lineouts inside the opposition’s 22-metre area.
Flyhalf Achmat Behardien and inside Luke Gertze have now had a few games paired together, and they will aim to test the opposition’s defensive line-speed with long passes and crosskicks.
SACS has some strong attacking options in their backline. Flyhalf Jake Dave and inside centre James Sale provide a solid counter to Behardien and Gertze’s 10/12 combo.
SACS lock Cameron Hirst is a force in the lineouts and will attempt to disrupt ‘Berg‘s dangerous lineout plays. Tighthead prop Qiraan Hermans will test Wynberg loosehead prop Boitumelu Mabohlo in the scrums.
Wynberg holds the home advantage and is favoured, but SACS has shown grit in tough fixtures this season. If they go down, they won’t do so without a fight.
