The Inanda Challenge Cup, hosted by St David’s Marist Inanda, is approaching its climax, with the knockout rounds having been played on Saturday, and the semifinals and the final scheduled for Sunday.
On Saturday, the group stage concluded, with the host team among those that reached the quarterfinals. There, they dominated Michaelhouse, romping to a 4-0 victory.
That earned them a semifinal showdown with their Johannesburg rival, St John’s College, on Sunday. From the first day of the competition, St John’s has been one of the most impressive teams in the tournament.

After securing a tight 1-0 victory over St Stithians College in their final group match, St John’s College took on Hilton College in the quarterfinals. Again, in a Gauteng versus KwaZulu-Natal clash, Gauteng came out on top, with St John’s winning 3-1.
St Benedict’s College, meanwhile, St Alban’s College in the last eight. They recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory in a closely contested match, setting the stage for a semifinal clash on Sunday against St Peter’s College.
St Peter’s needed a penalty shootout to get by Grey College after their match finished in a goalless draw. In a nail-biting shootout, St Peter’s advanced 7-6 from the spot.
