It would take a perfect or almost perfect season from Paul Roos Gimnasium to knock Grey College of the top of our rankings come the end of the 2019 season. Grey College scored 38 unanswered points on Saturday to put our third placed team, Paarl Boys’ High, to the sword by 43-24.
Paul Roos Gimnasium will face Paarl Gimnasium and Paarl Boys’ High over the next two weekends and will also join our rankings after this.
Paarl Gimnasium kept their second position on our latest rankings due to Boishaai’s defeat. Two big upsets over the weekend Westville Boys’ High defeating Affies (35-31) and Waterkloof beating Monument (28-21) in the Virsekerbeker had some impact on our rankings. Westville Boys’ High moved into the 20th position, while Affies dropped from ninth to 13th on the latest ranking.
Monument also dropped one place into sixth position just before their vital clash against fourth placed Garsfontein. The Garsie Bere only suffered a solitary defeat so far this season against top ranked, Grey College.
Please note that we don’t take matches against international opposition into consideration in our rankings. These games will however still be recorded and shown in our results.
These rankings are not an official ranking as there is no official ranking on schoolboy level and this is only to get the discussion on school rugby on South Africa flowing. We however take our responsibility on reporting school rugby very seriously.
