After the postponement of the Gauteng Development League (GDL) fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA), Kaizer Chiefs capitalised to extend their table-topping position to six points, securing a 3-0 victory against Africa School of Excellence on Saturday at Elandsfontein.
With their 3-0 win, Amakhosi improved to 59 points, with the second-placed Sundowns on 53. The Brazilians, however, have three matches in hand. Win those, and they’ll move above the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
While the defending champions‘ match was postponed, third-placed Randburg secured a 2-1 victory over Panorama on Sunday. They are, however, not within striking range of Sundowns, who lead Randburg by eight points.
Rockefvs, whose Chairman Mthethwa Dlamini told SuperSport Schools News that his club is chasing a top-eight position across all GDL divisions, continues to advance that objective, with the Rockevfs first team’s impressive season enduring.
They scored a narrow 1-0 win over Kathorus Hyper Academy on Saturday, improving their total by three points to remain in fourth place.
Siwelele kicked off the season with considerable promise, but has found the going tougher more recently. On Saturday, their recent up-and-down form continued with a 0-1 defeat against Joburg City. Still, Siwelele held onto fifth position.
Highlands Park, the champions of the 2023 and 2024 GDL seasons and runners-up in 2025, continues to struggle to build up momentum. They won on Saturday, however, edging out the University of Pretoria (Tuks) 1-0.
Jomo Cosmos ran rampant against Seven’s Academy, charging to a 6-0 victory
On Sunday, Wits Juniors turned on the style, outplaying Pitso Mosimane Youth Football (PMYF) 3-0.
