The Gauteng Development League (GDL) leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, headline this weekend’s matches at their home ground in Naturena Village, where they face Highlands Park, the 2025 runner-up and winner of the GDL in 2023 and 2024.

Coach David Mathebula, a former Chiefs’ player, has already guided the Phefeni Glamour Boys to a GDL Top 8 title this season. During the GDL’s mid-year break, he also led the Amakhosi to the Gauteng Engen Knockout Challenge title.
Chiefs are now targeting a third title. They’re top of the GDL table, with 49 points, while Highlands Park, with 30 points, is seventh.

Last Sunday, Highlands Park recorded a 1-1 draw against the defending champions, second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who trail Kaizer Chiefs by eight points. A visit to Naturena Village on Saturday will be another stiff examination of their form.
Sundowns will have to wait until Sunday to play their match at Clapham High against Wits Juniors. Playing at home and flying high in the league, Bafana Ba Style will be favoured against the Students.
On Saturday, Rockefvs faces Future of Africa, while Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA) hosts the Africa School of Excellence at President Park Stadium in Vereeniging.
Randburg, in third, hosts bottom-of-the-table Seven’s Academy at the Randburg Sports Complex. It’s been a tough season for the visitors, who have procured only 10 points from their 18 outings. Last time out, though, they fired on all cylinders, defeating Rockefvs 3-1.
While they went down to Seven’s Academy, Rockefvs has been one of the season’s success stories. In only their second season in the GDL, they’re in fourth place. Earlier in the year, they led the standings.
Panorama hosts the University of Pretoria (Tuks) at Panorama Sports Club. Meanwhile, Kathorus Hyper Academy welcomes the Pitso Mosimane Youth Football (PMYF) to Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong.
Jomo Cosmos and Joburg City meet at the Rand Stadium.
