The Golden Lion Schools’ selectors will once again want to ensure that they send a strong team to this years’ Cravenweek.

The preliminary team from Gauteng welcome the Blue Bulls in Krugersdorp on Tuesday with a squad of 26 players who would all like to cement their place in the final squad of 23 traveling to George.

Monument has once again proven to be the top feeding school, with no more than nine players representing the Wit Bulle.

Players like Ulrich van der Westhuizen (lock) and Ceano Everson (scrumhalf) make their returns to the Craven Week set-up with Jacques Botha (lock) and Jamaal Feldman (openside flank) announcing their presence on the biggest Schoolboy rugby stage in the country.

Helpmekaar will also be proud with six representatives, this including the whole front row, in the burly forms of Pedri de Wet (loosehead), Ruan Welman (hooker) and Ulrich van der Merwe (tighthead).

De Wet would like to show the selectors that he is worthy of making this his second year playing in the Cravenweek. Rynhardt van der Linden gets the chance to prove himself once again as a danger man in the midfield wearing the number-13 jumper.

The versatile number eighthman from King Edward VII Kebotile Maake and counterpart, the lively fullback in the form of Mashondo has also been included in the squad.

JT Kapank also makes his return to the set-up, but this year he will pull the 10-jumper over his head, instead of coming on as replacement as he did in last years tournament.
