The final match of the Inanda Hoops Classic Challenge, at St David’s Marist Inanda on Sunday, promises to be an exceptional contest. It features King Edward VII School (KES), the defending champion, and St Benedict’s College, the 2025 runner-up.
Last year, only two points separated them, with KES squeezing past Bennies and claiming a nail-biting 29-27 victory. Both teams remain undefeated in the 2026 competition.
While KES aims for back-to-back Inanda Hoops titles, St Benedict’s is targeting a second title after winning the Kearsney Schools Stayers’ Basketball (ISSBT) tournament last month.

In Saturday’s semifinals, St Benedict’s eliminated St Stithians College 42-33. They had earlier held off The King’s School Linbro Park in the quarterfinals, winning 40-35
KES secured their semifinal berth by defeating St David’s 56-40. That came on the heels of an emphatic 61-33 win over Hilton College.
In other quarterfinal matches, St Stithians College downed previously-unbeaten Maritzburg College 50-41, while St David’s earned a narrow 40-37 win over St John’s College.
In the U15 quarterfinals, Hilton College defeated St Benedict’s 47-43, Saheti rolled to a 57-34 victory over St Stithians, St John’s College outplayed Pretoria Boys High 52-27, and KES eliminated the home side, St David’s, after a back-and-forth tussle, winning 45-40.
With a place in the final on the line, St John’s College sneaked a 38-37 win over Hilton College, and Saheti eliminated KES, winning 37-31.
